Jana Pendragon is currently the Nightlife Country Editor for Music Connection Magazine, the West Coast industry publication. History

I started Twangin' a few years back as an 8-page print fanzine -- with wide margins and big type. I wanted to find out if there were other people out there who liked country & roots music by the likes of Steve Earle, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Rosie Flores, Texas Tornadoes... Were there ever! It was like I put my toe in the water and was hit by a tidal wave.



Subscriptions and Back Issues


Subscriptions for Twangin'! are no longer available. After months of trying to get #8 out this weekend, and failing, I have suspended the print publication. I will be either refunding subscriptions or filling them out with reprints from this page. I may revive the print 'zine in the future, but if so, it will be a limited-circulation newsletter sent out on request and at whim. I am not planning to take further subscriptions.

Back Issues

Back issues #2 - #5 are $3.00 each. Issue #1 is really only for completists, but if you want a copy, it's yours for $1. If you order all the back issues, we'll throw in #1 free.

Issue #2: Interviews with Kevin Welch and Tinsley Ellis; Steve Earle Live and lots of reviews.

Issue #4: Interviews with Billy Joe Shaver, Jim Muller of Southern Rail, Ruth Rappaport of the Poodles; San Francisco Country, Windy City Western, and Cajun country music.

Issue #5: Interviews with Monte Warden, Chris Stuart of Cornerstone, Sue Foley, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, and Malford Milligan; The Country Roots of Ian & Sylvia, Live reviews of Country Dick Montana's Petting Zoo, Kevin Welch & Kieran Kane, Jeb Loy Nichols, Uncle Tupelo, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Alejandro Escovedo. Plus demo tapes, book reviews, lots of record reviews and just generally way too much stuff.

Issue #6: Interviews with Ranch Romance, Ralph Stanley, Walter Hyatt, Dave Edmunds, and Johnny Cash; Old Time Music, Dallas Frazier and reviews, natch.

Submissions of articles, interviews, reviews, photographs and artwork are welcome. A minuscule payment is involved.
